It started from the space, the interior elements of the new location 118 London Wall, the second shop of Rosslyn Coffee opened on 18 October 2021.
Back in August, at our first meeting, James, the founder of Rosslyn, brought me to the site, showed me the space, the textures, the interior details and the plan for the new shop. We both wanted the customers to come and recognise this is a custom coffee cup designed explicitly for this new site.
The distinguished Terra cotta brick floor is the key visual and textural element to start the custom clay recipe development for the cups.
The subtle marble appearance shows differently at the bottom of each cup. All these details emphasised the beauty of handmade ceramics.
Different cup shapes serve you different types of coffee. They were created for specific functionality and purpose. The tsoz ceramics cups are mainly used for serving filter coffee at Rosslyn Coffee.
The terra brick floor at the shop is the main inspiration for the clay body.
There are many details we have discussed when developing this cup. We hope people feel good about holding the cup, which has a comfortable curve on the cup body. We want to make the customers warm but not too hot to hold when they grab the cup; this is how we decided on the thickness of the cup. I enjoyed working on all the little details that make the users feel good.
The stamp we made for this collaboration.
